What are dermal fillers for the cheek?
As we age, the natural fat in our bodies diminishes, leading to sagging skin, more noticeable wrinkles, and reduced volume. Cheek fillers offer a solution to rejuvenate the mid-face area by addressing volume loss, enhancing contours, and lifting and improving other facial features. At CURRENT, we utilize the following dermal fillers for cheek augmentation: Restylane® Lyft™ or Juvederm® Voluma™, due to their excellent supportive properties. Cheek filler treatment can benefit most men and women at some point in their lives. When administered at the first signs of facial heaviness, it can help prevent mid-face volume loss and the descent of the jowls.
How long do the results last?
Lip fillers naturally dissolve within 6-12 months. This largely depends on the age of the patient, their metabolism, the amount of exercise they do regularly, and the normal blood flow to the face. For example, someone who is young with a fast metabolism and more blood flow to the face will most likely burn through filler quicker than someone older. Filler placed in other areas of the face tends to last longer since they are not as mobile as the lips. Think about how much we talk every day!

Is there any downtime?
Lip injections typically result in swelling that can persist for approximately 48 hours. While we take extensive measures at CURRENT Med Spa to minimize the risk of bruising, it may still occur and should be anticipated. Downtime varies for each individual, but there are steps you can take to aid the healing process.
Before and after care:
Before your treatment, we kindly request that you refrain from consuming caffeine, anti-inflammatory drugs, and blood-thinners, if feasible, to minimize the risk of bruising/swelling. Our HA injectable sessions are typically 30-60 minutes, numbing time included. There is minimal downtime following the treatment, but we advise against strenuous exercise for the remainder of the day and recommend avoiding facials and/or massages of the area for 2 weeks. Applying ice to the area may aid in comfort and reduce swelling in the first 24 hours. It may take up to two weeks to see final results without swelling and/or bruising, so we suggest waiting the full two weeks before scheduling a follow-up appointment.

Versa™,, a hyaluronic acid (HA) based injection, stands out for its exceptional uniformity, achieved through advanced wet milling technology and a proprietary formula. This results in uniquely spherical and consistent particles, offering an ideal blend of smoothness and volume. Compared to other fillers, Versa™, has been shown to induce less swelling, with one study reporting a 24% reduction. While Versa™ filler can last up to 12 months, a more realistic duration for lip enhancement is around 6 months. Actual outcomes may differ among individuals.
Juvederm® – $700-800/syringe
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal fillers such as Juvederm® function by replenishing the skin’s natural volume and elasticity, rejuvenating your appearance with a youthful glow. While these fillers effectively plump up wrinkles and address deep lines, they also restore volume in the cheeks and enhance the lips, defining their contours and lifting creased skin around the mouth. Results typically endure for 6-12 months, though a more practical timeframe for lip enhancement is around 6 months. Actual outcomes may differ for each individual.
Restylane® – $700-800/syringe
Restylane® is a transparent gel made of hyaluronic acid, designed to mimic the hyaluronic acid naturally produced by your body. FDA-approved for lip enhancement in patients over 21, Restylane® and Restylane® Silk are uniquely crafted to enhance the fullness and contours of your lips.
