What dermal fillers does CURRENT use for lip fillers?

We have a wide array of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers to choose from. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) naturally occurs throughout your body and serves as a natural skin plumper. All HA Fillers are fully dissolvable, so in the rare event that you’re unsatisfied with the results, they can be reversed quickly. When it comes to lip augmentation, we’ve found that Versa™, Juvederm® Ultra XC, Restylane®, and Restylane® Kysse offer optimal aesthetics. With that in mind, we’ll suggest a filler based on your specific needs/goals, but ultimately, the decision is yours!

How long do the results last?

Lip fillers naturally dissolve within 6-12 months. This largely depends on the age of the patient, their metabolism, the amount of exercise they do regularly, and the normal blood flow to the face. For example, someone who is young with a fast metabolism and more blood flow to the face will most likely burn through filler quicker than someone older. Filler placed in other areas of the face tends to last longer since they are not as mobile as the lips. Think about how much we talk every day!⁣

Is there any downtime?

Lip injections typically result in swelling that can persist for approximately 48 hours. While we take extensive measures at CURRENT Med Spa to minimize the risk of bruising, it may still occur and should be anticipated. Downtime varies for each individual, but there are steps you can take to aid the healing process.

Before and after care

Before your treatment, we kindly request that you refrain from consuming caffeine, anti-inflammatory drugs, and blood-thinners, if feasible, to minimize the risk of bruising/swelling. Our HA injectable sessions are typically 30-60 minutes, numbing time included.⁣ There is minimal downtime following the treatment, but we advise against strenuous exercise for the remainder of the day and recommend avoiding facials and/or massages of the area for 2 weeks. Applying ice to the area may aid in comfort and reduce swelling in the first 24 hours. It may take up to two weeks to see final results without swelling and/or bruising, so we suggest waiting the full two weeks before scheduling a follow-up appointment.

What are my options with Broadband Light?

Forever Young BBL: During this BBL Light treatment, the light energy is directed into the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate your skin’s natural healing and regeneration process, leading to youthful skin.

Forever Clear BBL: During this treatment, the BBL device produces three levels of light energy to clear acne. The blue BBL light eliminates the bacteria responsible for the acne. The yellow BBL light reduces inflammation and redness. Finally, the infrared light initiates your body’s natural healing process to ensure clear skin without side effects.

BBL Light Hero provides various procedures to target different skin conditions, allowing you to treat freckles, age spots, loss of firmness, acne, visible blood vessels, facial veins, and unwanted hair growth. BBL therapy also treats Rosacea, a rare and painful condition that leads to visible blood vessels, redness, irritation, and the formation of pus-filled acne and sores. BroadBand Light can treat the skin on any part of your body, but it’s generally used for the most visible parts of your body — face, chest, and hands.

Versa™, – $700-800/syringe

‍Versa™,, a hyaluronic acid (HA) based injection, stands out for its exceptional uniformity, achieved through advanced wet milling technology and a proprietary formula. This results in uniquely spherical and consistent particles, offering an ideal blend of smoothness and volume. Compared to other fillers, Versa™, has been shown to induce less swelling, with one study reporting a 24% reduction. While Versa™ filler can last up to 12 months, a more realistic duration for lip enhancement is around 6 months. Actual outcomes may differ among individuals.

Juvederm® – $700-800/syringe

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal fillers such as Juvederm® function by replenishing the skin’s natural volume and elasticity, rejuvenating your appearance with a youthful glow. While these fillers effectively plump up wrinkles and address deep lines, they also restore volume in the cheeks and enhance the lips, defining their contours and lifting creased skin around the mouth. Results typically endure for 6-12 months, though a more practical timeframe for lip enhancement is around 6 months. Actual outcomes may differ for each individual.

Restylane® – $700-800/syringe

‍Restylane® is a transparent gel made of hyaluronic acid, designed to mimic the hyaluronic acid naturally produced by your body. FDA-approved for lip enhancement in patients over 21, Restylane® and Restylane® Silk are uniquely crafted to enhance the fullness and contours of your lips. While results typically endure for 6-12 months, a more practical duration for lip enhancement is around 6 months. Actual outcomes may vary among individuals. ⁣⁣

Restylane® Kysse – $700-800/syringe

‍Restylane® Kysse is a transparent injectable gel made of hyaluronic acid (HA). Unlike naturally occurring HA, Restylane® Kysse’s HA has been modified to offer extended durability within the body. It’s the pioneering lip filler incorporating XpresHAn Technology™, providing a naturally voluminous and irresistibly soft feel. Their study revealed that 60% of participants experienced enhanced lip fullness even 12 months post-treatment. Results can be expected to persist for up to a year, though outcomes may differ from person to person.
